I played some face-to-face poker during June and July. It was all just fun, no money on the table, but it really underscored the fundamental poker lesson: don't bluff the donkeys. One hand in particular comes to mind.
I limped with K-10 offsuit. The flop came QJ6 unsuited. The first blind checked, the big blind made a small bet at the pot. I came over the top for a big raise, hoping to buy the pot with the semi-bluff. They both called! One turned over AK offsuit, the other AQ, and needless to say I lost big. I nursed a short stack, pushed with suited AJ, and got a call from the UTG player. Queens? How about Q-10 offsuit. And you better believe he flopped the queen and beat me. Arg. Don't bluff them.
